Red pandas are not closely related to giant pandas - their closest relatives include raccoons, weasels and skunks.[2]

  2. 2

Red pandas' red-brown fur and white face markings probably help them blend in with red moss and white lichen on trees.[2]

  3. 3

Red pandas climb down trees head-first, gripping the trunk with their hind feet.[2]

  4. 4

When red pandas play fight, they stand on their hind legs, raise their arms overhead and then pounce.[2]

  5. 5

Red pandas have at least seven different calls, including hoots, bleats, squeals and twitters.[2]
